Logan Parsley hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to provide an offensive spark for the Nevada Bighorns summer collegiate baseball team in its 7-2 loss against the Redding Colt .45s on Sunday night in Redding, Calif.

The Bighorns (11-25) only managed two hits against a trio of Colt .45s (23-12) pitchers the final game of a weekend series at Tiger Field. The Bighorns scored four runs on 12 hits during the three-game series (their other two runs came in the first inning on Friday).

Redding took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Michael Benton's two-run double. The Colt .45s extended their lead to 5-0 with three more runs in the fourth inning, keyed by an RBI double from Cody Grice and RBI single from Benton.

Parsley, a Carson High graduate, homered to lead off the seventh inning as the Bighorns ended a 17-inning scoring drought. They made it 5-2 with an unearned run in the eighth, as Eric Maupin drew a two-out walk and came around to score when Anthony Stolo's fly ball was misplayed for an error.

Earlier, the Bighorns threatened in the fourth inning when Parsley was hit by a pitch with two outs. Jeff Young followed with a single, but the inning ended as Redding right fielder Tyler Berger threw out Parsley attempting to take third base on the play.

Blake Nahlem started and pitched five innings for the Bighorns. Tony Guerra, who will be at Western Nevada College this coming year, pitched 2-2/3 innings of relief and allowed two unearned runs in the eighth, struck out two and walked two. Young came on to get the final out of the eighth inning for the Bighorns. Guerra pitched for WNC in the fall of 2007 before needing Tommy John surgery.

Bobby O'Niell pitched five shutout innings, allowed one hit and two walks to go with two strikeouts to earn credit for the win. Brandon Andrieni pitched three innings and Tanner McIntyre was perfect in the ninth inning to close out the game for the Colt .45s.

All nine starters contributed to Redding's 14-hit attack, led by Benton's 2-for-4 with three RBI. Grice was 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI, while Andrew Lassen went 2-for-2 with one RBI.

The Bighorns will be on the road again when they play a 5 p.m. doubleheader against the Southern Oregon Riverdawgs on Tuesday in Medford.
