With a West Coast Tri-State League playoff berth on the line, the Nevada Bighorns lost both ends of a doubleheader against the Southern Oregon RiverDawgs on Tuesday night in Medford, Ore. The RiverDawgs won the opener 12-4 and completed the sweep with a 2-0 triumph in the nightcap at Harry & David Field.
The RiverDawgs are now 8-15 in league, followed by the Bighorns at 3-17 in the race for the fourth and final berth in the the league playoffs which will be played next week in Arcata, Calif. The RiverDawgs are 16-19 overall and riding a five-game win streak that includes a 1-0 triumph against the league-leading Humboldt Crabs last Friday.
The Bighorns, now 11-28 overall for the summer, have one game against the RiverDawgs remaining on Wednesday night and then play a three-game series this weekend against the Humboldt Crabs in Arcata to close out the regular season. The Bighorns and RiverDawgs play their series finale at 7 p.m. in Medford.
